Michigan uses the Income Share Model in order to determine the amount of child support the parent who doesn’t have primary custodial rights should pay. This formula is based on those financial indicators that a child would have if the marriage had not collapsed. Then, the resulting amount shall be divided proportionally depending on each spouse’s income.
